RPG progression that respects your time
The best mobile RPGs I've played lately share one thing: they don't punish you for experimenting. Emberfall Saga lets you respec at every camp, and that single feature changed how I played. I tried builds I'd never have risked otherwise.
Grind is the old enemy of mobile RPGs. Too many pad their runtime with repeated fights that exist only to slow you down. A good progression curve gives you a reason to fight, not a quota to fill.
When you're trying a new RPG, check how the first three hours feel. If the game is already asking you to repeat content to keep up, it probably won't improve. If every hour introduces a new system or story beat, stick with it.
I also look at how builds interact with story. The games I remember let my choices ripple outward. A support caster and a reckless rogue should experience the same quest differently, and the best titles pull that off.
